One of the MCDCC’s most important duties is appointing people to fill legislative vacancies. The party votes on candidates, and whoever wins goes to the Governor for appointment. The problem lies in the fact that a little less than half of our legislators in Annapolis were originally appointed. It creates an unfair playing field for those who are seeking the parties nomination in June. To be pitted against a legislator that constituents had no part in choosing. We can fix this by urging the MGA to move appointment privileges away from the MCDCC and adopt special elections.
